St. Anton am Arlberg

History

St. Anton became known for the revolution of modern skiing when Hannes Schneider started to teach the “Arlberg technique”.  In the end of the 19th decade his technique of skiing became more and more popular and replaced the “telemark” style. In the following years the number of guest beds increased constantly and more and more tourists visited St. Anton, the cradle of alpine skiing. When the ski world championships took place in St. Anton in 2001, the infrastructure of the whole resort became heavily improved in the previous years. The moving of the railway line from the center of the town into a tunnel system with a still central located train station counts as one of the biggest changes for the village. Where once the old railway area was, you now find a lovely park area surrounding the newly build “Arlberg well.com Center”- a center for wellness and communication. Today St. Anton am Arlberg has more than 10.000 guest beds and is known for far more than only its fantastic skiing resort.

Even in summer the Arlberg attracts more and more hikers and mountain bikers enjoying the huge offer of mountain activities.

With a sea height of 1.300m St. Anton is the perfect place for numerous sports, no matter whether in winter or in summer. As a skier and snowboarder you find a demanding and diverse skiing area with 97 lift Arrangements, more than 350 runway kilometres and a big freeride-paradise. But also for all non-skiers St. Anton offers everything what is needed for perfect holidays. Cross-country skiing, curling, wellness in the Arlberg-well.com or a romantic carriage journey through the beautiful winter-wonderland of St. Anton – there is something for everyone! And in summer it seems as if the summits waited to be scaled by you! Ride a bike (no matter whether mountain bike, E bike or street wheel), walk or climb – you will always see a breathtaking mountain panorama as a reward. Afterwards, do not miss a good tyrolian mountain-snack with „Speck and Kas“ (like tyroleans say) on the alp! And also for our smallest guests we have many activities which promise a lot of fun!

The fresh air, extraordinary view and warmth of St. Anton’s hosts will make your holiday to an unforgettable experience. And what makes St. Anton and our hotel so unique the whole year round is our location – you need no kind of transportation, everything is reachable within walking distance.
